Since its launch in June 2025 with funding from DLR’s Transfer Management, SELF-MADE-ATC has made significant progress. We are now heading towards our first Stakeholder Workshop on the 4th and 5th of November.
The project is designed to ease the adaptation and maintenance of Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding by enabling:
- Seamless Adaptation: Automatically adapt Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding (ASRU) applications from one airspace to another.
- AI-Driven Transcription: Utilize Large Language Models for the automatic transcription of voice utterances to generate robust training data.
- Effortless Maintenance: Easily integrate monthly updates, such as new waypoints or airline designators, by using synthetic voice data.
- GDPR-Compliant Processing: Ensure maximum privacy—voice data never has to leave the end-user’s facilities.
This workshop will bring together end-users, ATM system manufacturers, air navigation service providers (ANSPs), airports, and European decision-makers in the Air Traffic Management domain.
The event is designed to be highly interactive and consists of two main pillars. The “Shop” sessions will feature expert presentations and live prototype demonstrations. The “Work” sessions, however, rely on your active contribution: You will join small groups of four to six participants to discuss key topics, with results being presented to the wider audience afterwards.
Hybrid Format & Networking
To accommodate everyone, the event is organized in a hybrid format. Presentations and some working groups will be accessible for remote participants. However, to experience the prototype demonstrations, extended working groups and to join our come together at a local restaurant on the first evening, we highly encourage on-site participation in Braunschweig.
